iPad isn't the answer

28 May 2010

What with the perfect storm of iPad coverage today (so it isn't just an expensive not-quite-laptop then?), I thought I would take the opportunity to go against the crowd.

Back to basics if you like.

The thing is, nice and flashy as these iPads are, I remain unconvinced at whether they'll actually have much of an impact on the work of an estate agent.

Whether they'll help you win instructions or not.

I suppose if you're already doing all of the basics they could give you an edge, but what if you're not? We all know how powerful testimonials are for winning instructions don't we?

Apparently not. I just checked the websites of 16 Crawley estate agents and only FIVE had obvious testimonials from satisfied clients. A further two had quite well hidden ones, but a massive nine had no sign of any satisfied clients at all.

Fanastic consumer product, sure. But when you consider how much of a sale is based on building customer trust, shouldn't the basics come first for business?

Quite right! There's nothing wrong with technology, as long as it's not for technology's sake!
