No Google Property yet then

Despite rumblings in the industry, Google's appearance at the PPS show in Birmingham yesterday did not herald an announcement of Google Property coming to the UK.

Quite the opposite in fact.

Confirmation came as part of James Bacon's talk and was definitely more of a "no" than a "no comment".

Instead, James' talk focused on the same Google tools that I regularly push on this blog: AdWords, Analytics and Webmaster Tools - perhaps wisely, given the number of estate agents still not making much use of the opportunities these bring.

One interesting point was the use of the knowledge brought by Analytics and Webmaster Tools to Avoid the HIPPO (HIghest Paid Person's Opinion). It's quite important to recognise that the big cheese in an organisation isn't always right!

For a lot of independent estate agents, the lack of in-house technical expertise is a barrier to making the most of Google's tools. It's worth overcoming that hurdle though - the rewards are there for those who make the effort.

If you're looking for a starting point, take a look back at the week long feature I ran in January on getting started with AdWords, along with other Google AdWords and Google Analytics topics.
